#48 1971 Mercury Cyclone of James Hylton. This diecast is 1:43 scale in the 1992 Legends of Racing series. It comes in a plastic display case and is 10511 of 18000. James Hylton's NASCAR career began as a chief mechanic for Rex White in 1960 and later for Ned Jarrett and Dick Hutcherson. He took the wheel in 1966 as an independent and was runner up for the Grand National championship in 1967 and 1971. He holds the distinction of being the first independent to earn over one million dollars in his career. His most memorable moment in racing was his victory in the 1972 Talladega 500 when he won on year old tires and everyone else purchased the new tires Goodyear introduced particularly for Talladega. He led 106 of the 188 laps and by saving a little money by not buying the new tires he actually ended up winning over $24,000. Can be picked up in McArthur Estates on Gum Branch Rd. or I can meet in Jacksonville or Richlands. Please message me if interested.
